Mission: St. Francis House is the largest day shelter in Massachusetts. Located in the heart of downtown Boston, we serve an average of 500 poor and homeless men and women a day, 365 days a year. Our basic, rehabilitative, and housing services overlap and build on one another to provide our guests with continuous and comprehensive care.

Orchard Gardens Boys & Girls Club
Partner requirements: Volunteers are required to complete an application and mandatory orientation session on February 5th at 5 pm. The application will be attached to your confirmation email from Signup.com when you register for the shift. Please bring the completed application and a photo ID (passport or license preferred) to orientation.
Additional Helpful Skills: Strong English skills, ability and interest to work with youth, ability to tutor elementary school and middle school students, Bilingual (Spanish) is not required, but would be helpful for a few students |
Mission: The mission of Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston is to help young people, especially those who need us most, build strong character and realize their full potential as responsible citizens and leaders. B&G Clubs do this by providing: a safe haven filled with hope and opportunity, ongoing relationships with caring adults, and life-enhancing programs.

Hernandez After School Program
Partner requirements: CORI background check and onsite orientation
Additional Information: Volunteers have the opportunity to volunteer additional days of the week.

Mission: The Hernandez After School Program (HASP) is dedicated in providing enriching and educational opportunities to their students. Their goal is to offer a safe, high quality space for learning and growth. They hire caring staff and volunteers who can help children with homework and facilitate the daily functions of HASP. Furthermore they partner with organizations in the Boston area to teach our kids different skills, while also exposing them to amazing parts of life that they would not have been able to experience otherwise.

Apprentice Learning
Partner requirements: Orientation (1.5 hours) at Apprentice Learning office sometime in late Jan/early Feb. Specifics TBD. Multiple sessions can be made available to accommodate varying student schedules.

Mission: Apprentice Learning partners with Boston public schools to support the transition from middle school by expanding students’ skills, social networks, and creating more opportunities to thrive. Apprentice Learning’s career exploration programs are part of the regular school day at our five partner schools so that when students leave eighth grade, they are eligible to enter the workforce fully equipped for success in a summer job.

Let's Get Ready
Partner requirements: All background checks must be complete by 1st week of programming. Coaches will need to attend an orientation on either Thursday, January 23rd, 5:30-8:30 PM or Saturday, January 25th, 11:00-2:00 PM (if missed orientation can be made up one-on-one).

Mission: Let’s Get Ready provides free SAT prep, admission counseling, and post-enrollment mentoring to students from low-income backgrounds and first-generation-to-college students to help them get into and graduate from college. Their peer-driven program is administered by volunteer college students.

Artists for Humanity
Partner requirements: CORI check must be completed. We will lead the volunteers through an on site orientation that covers a program overview, tour of the facility, observation of a tutoring session, and trial session(s) to ensure that tutor-teen matches will be successful. Once tutoring begins, we offer additional support/coaching for tutors that are less confident in their tutoring abilities.

Mission: Artists For Humanity (AFH) provides under-resourced teens the keys to self-sufficiency through paid employment in art and design. AFH is built on the philosophy that engagement in the creative process is a powerful force for social change, and that creative entrepreneurship is a productive and life-changing opportunity for young people. Bridging economic, racial, and social divisions, AFH enriches urban communities by introducing young people's creativity to the business community.

American Red Cross - Home Fire Campaign
Partner requirements: An online orientation, one team member must be comfortable driving in Boston.

Mission: The American Red Cross Home Fire Campaign aims to reduce fire-related injuries and deaths in the United States by 25%. Through this program, Red Cross smoke-alarm installation volunteers install free smoke/carbon monoxide alarms in homes, and educate families in fire and disaster safety.

826 Boston
Partner Requirements: Orientation and training will be held at 826's main center in Egleston Square 3 times throughout January. Additional training dates will be available.

Mission: 826 Boston is a nonprofit youth writing and publishing organization that empowers traditionally under served students ages 6-18 to find their voices, tell their stories, and gain communication skills to succeed in school and in life.

BCYF Family Gym
Partner Requirements: All volunteers will also have to complete a CORI/SORI (passport required for international students). Moderate to vigorous physical activity, some lifting of objects weighing less than 10 lbs required when setting up gym/sports equipment. Mission: BCYF Family Gym is a health and wellness program that promotes physical activity for children ages 3-8 and their families. Each year BCYF Family Gym runs a fall cycle and a spring cycle, offering 16-18 weeks of fun, healthy activity!
